Halloween – Shop Local

Buying from local businesses is something that I have been passionate about for quite a while. The majority of my posts are about small businesses in Ireland and I believe that we have an abundance of amazing and creative companies here. I have put the following list together of companies that I recommend for spooky, seasonal items.

Soap and Bubbles

Soap and Bubbles is a Galway based company selling wax melts, bath bombs (which don’t stain your bath and don’t cost a fortune) and a selection of spooky oil and melt burners as well as Halloween mugs. I stocked up on purple witch hat, ghost and pumpkin bath bombs last Halloween and I loved them. This year I have some pumpkiny treats for my wax burner. The wax melts which are made by Soap and Bubbles are both beautifully scented and presented; they are my current obsession and I can’t get enough of them. The adorable pumpkin melts come in any scent of your choosing. The Halloween collection is always amazing and I’m very excited for this year’s offerings. Pumpkin10 will get you 10% off online.

Wickcraft and Wickery

Dani produces beautiful wax melts which are cruelty-free and vegan as well as stunning foil prints. I purchased a Practical Magic print last year and I adore it. There are plenty of wax melts to choose from and I’ve been told that there are some gorgeous autumn prints and foils on the way.

Cailleach Candles

Nola makes the most amazing vegan candles inspired by myth and magic. Both the Mabon and Samhain sabbat boxes are perfect for spooky season. The Samhain candle in particular is absolutely amazing.

Cauldron Candles

Lucy’s wax melts and candles are gorgeous and her skulls, pumpkins and cats will appeal to those who believe in Halloween all year long (like me!).

Triple Moon Rituals

Creator Lauren makes gorgeously adorned vegan candles inspired by folklore. All products and crystals are consciously sourced. There are three new candles being released for autumn and rumour has it that there may be a subscription box on the way for spooky season.

Gillian creates handcrafted soaps from Duleek, Co. Meath that are nourishing, luxurious and soothing. A personal favourite of mine is the pumpkin soap dish.

Creating gorgeous handmade goods from Galway, Aideen, queen of knitting, makes delightful gifts and treats. I purchased two puimcíní a few years ago and they still look amazing. They are a must for spooky season.

I have a selection of autumn and Halloween products with something to suit everyone from cup cosies, to wooden signs and pumpkins to chopping boards. I can also make custom and personalised items. All profits go towards Pumpkin Lodge Animal Sanctuary.

Mimi and Martha

Based in Limerick, Mimi and Martha offer a range of beautiful lifestyle and interior products. The small business curates a collection of hand crafted items and places a focus on sustainability. The little ghost decorations are adorable and they also stock puimcíní from Fluff Beag.

From tarot readings to courses, there is a range of beautiful gifts available from This Irish Witch. I was lucky enough to join Stacey for an online Tarot course which was not just informative but an absolute delight.

Kenny’s Bookshop

There is no need or reason to purchase from a certain online giant this Halloween (or ever). Kenny’s Bookshop is a prime example of the amazing book shops we have in Ireland. I started purchasing from Kenny’s during the summer of 2020 and have placed numerous orders since. There is a great range of books and free postage on everything; you will definitely find some seasonal reading material.

Offering a wide range of books to suit all tastes, you will find something suitably autumnal or spooky. There is a bargain shop on their site where I have picked up some great books. Delivery is free over €10.

Irish Authors

We’re spoiled for choice with eerie tales from Irish authors and there are classics such as Dracula and The Portrait of Dorian Gray from some seasonal stories of the macabre. If you’re in the mood for modern spooky books set in Ireland then I highly recommend Perfectly Preventable Deaths and the sequel Precious Catastrophe by Deirdre O’Sullivan. The books are aimed at young adults but I enjoyed both.

Caroline’s Beauty Room

Based in Rush, Caroline creates the most stunning nails. I’m constantly blown away by how one person can be so creative and produce such detail on a nail. I’ve always loved getting Halloween nails done by Caroline and I’ve had pumpkins, ghosts, Frankenstein’s monsters and vampires painted on my claws.

Chocolatey Clare

Halloween is a time of treats and one of my favourites is the mint chocolate bar from Chocolatey Clare. Clare produces luxurious vegan and gluten free chocolate treats, offering a range of flavours including lemon crunch, salted peanut, strawberry and mint creme.

Ciara Purdy Pictures

Ciara Purdy is a Dublin based artist creating gorgeous cross stitch pieces. The recently released Halloween items are amazing. It is hard to choose a favourite but maybe it is the 100% that witch piece. I highly recommend a visit to Ciara’s Instagram.

I’m sure I’ve left out loads of businesses so I will keep updating the list.
