Penneys Spring Summer 2016

Last Thursday on an incredibly wet and dull day I made my way to Penneys HQ for a preview of their spring summer collection.  As wet and dreary as it was outside, we were instantly cheered up the minute we got in the door.  There was a lovely breakfast buffet to greet us upon arrival.  The staff were also there to offer a warm welcome.  They are seriously the nicest people and are really helpful and sweet.

The collection which will be launching in January has a couple of main elements.  There’s lots of gorgeous strong patterns as well as floaty floral boho pieces.  Finally there’s an emphasis on denim looks with both long and short skirts and dresses.

Camp California – 70s style with bright and bold shades and denim.  There are plenty of beautiful 70s style accessories to match.

Road to Morocco – nomadic festival stlye.  Lots of textures, tassels and fringing.

Laundered and Humble – casual fashion staples and minimal prints.  There are plenty of denim skirts and dresses.

Sheer Romance – floaty and breezy bohemian day-wear.  The pieces are soft, sheer and beautiful.

One of my favourite items was the orange and brown zig zag skirt which will be €10.

The shoes are absolutely gorgeous with offerings in black and tan.  I loved the heels but I was really drawn to the gladiator style sandals.  I need the Disney bag in my life and I can’t wait to get it.

After my visit, I of course dropped into the main shop on Mary Street and bought a few bits and pieces, although these are not at all spring summer and definitely have more of a wintery festive feeling.  Here’s my haul.

Firstly I picked up some pug socks.  Now that I have a puppy I need my socks to reflect my love for him.  The pack of three is €2.50.

I picked up some elf tights, tis the season and all.  These are brilliant and are also €2.50.

I bought a white shirt with a black neck tie for €13.  The top is sheer and is very comfy.

To go with my shirt I needed a new pair of black skinny jeans and found a bargain pair for €8.  Seriously good value.

When I was 10 I had a similar skirt so when I saw this one I decided to take a gamble and purchase it.  I’m not sure if buying something two decades later is the best plan but I think the skirt is lovely.  I also feel like I’m part of a clan in Brave!  The skirt is €12.

Not to be too greedy, I picked up a pair of Batman slippers for himself.  He’s very happy with them.  They are €7.  There are matching dressing gowns too but he already has one of them.

Since I’m on a Penneys haul I might as well tell you about the black ankle boots I bought a couple of weeks ago.  I love ankle boots and I bought 3 pairs in total from Penneys over the last few months.  They are great so when I see them in store I have to have them.  I’m living in them and I wear them everywhere.  My new ones are cute with a slight fringe on the side.  I’m delighted with them.

Finally this Christmas tshirt was €3.  Love it.

I’m on the search for this pug jumper so if anyone sees it, please let me know.  I need it!

I loved my time in Penneys HQ, I’m delighted with my new bits and pieces and I can’t wait for the spring summer collection to launch.  All hail Penneys.
